The
memory plays tricks (mine simply just doesn't function). However,
feel free to correct me but I think we were introduced to David Blosse
by Michael Moore. Thirty years on imagine how nice it was to
see Dave's name on our site's Guestbook.
David
became one of our regular "stalwarts" in our folk club
days. He often performed as a resident singer for us and, it is
chronicled in 1975 at the Blacksmiths Arms, teamed up with the
legendary Doug Morter to perform as "Crabs" !
A sight to behold!
From
1978 to 1984 he was in London based band Pekoe Orange touring
both here and abroad. Lots of fun critically and musically, but
financially not. He moved to and still resides in Kent. From 1978 to
1984 he was in London based band Pekoe Orange touring both
here and abroad. Fortunately his career has gone from strength to
strength seemingly never stronger than it is now. He is a successful
solo artist and member of the very interesting DB and the
Hurlimann Band. Appearances at Ronnie Scotts, the Rock Garden,
Dingwalls and the Sidmouth Festival indicate not only
success but also a broad range of musical styles - African, Celtic,
jazz and blues.
The
band, initially the Hurlimann Brothers, was named after Shepherd
Neame's lager..seemingly on the basis of the band having consumed
vast quantities of it! (I suppose it wouldn't have worked so well
with Farleys Rusks!). The band is a bit of a moveable feast ranging
from a 12 piece with a horn section to a trio - currently it numbers 7.

Dave's
first solo album 'That's The Key' was released in 1999 and
described by Folk Roots as being at the 'upper end of the
quality scale', the band's first album appeared in June 2001 and Dave
has just finished his second solo album "Fall from Grace"
It
is not beyond the bounds of possibility that these cultural delights
will soon be available from this very website.

you want to contact David..
